1. BACKGROUND
Africa’s Campus Battle (AFRICA’S CAMPUS BATTLE) is a captivating talent competition traversing Universities in Africa with the goal of identifying the untapped talents among the students. The mission is to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by mobilizing the talented youth in universities and colleges. Through collaborative problem-solving, AFRICA’S CAMPUS BATTLE aims to launch innovative social and environmental solutions that will contribute to co-creating a sustainable future. The sixth season will be a captivating competition for all university students in Africa. This will culminate in a grand finale event where we will crown the winner of Africa’s Campus Battle Season 6 . We are confident that this platform will be a success and look forward to seeing the wonderful results.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE “AFRICA’S CAMPUS BATTLE SEASON 6”
2. INTRODUCTION
This Website is operated by African Campus Battle Limited (ACB), to accept/reject, process, and conduct online assessments in connection with the fourth coming Africa Campus Battle Season 6. Read our Communication Notice.
3. PRIVACY NOTICE
This privacy notice applies to all “Users” who access the site and provide registration information (for instance information that identifies a specific person, such as full name, gender, email address). By accessing this website, you are authorizing ACB to collect, store, and use such information as per the application to participate in the African Campus Battle Season 6. Read our Privacy Policy
4. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
4.1 To join the competition, the applicant must fill out an application form online at APPLY HERE
4.2 All competition entries must be received by the AFRICA’S CAMPUS BATTLE not later than 14th June 11:59 pm EAT.
4.3 All competition entries received after the Closing Date shall be automatically disqualified.
4.4 By filling out the application form, you are consenting to be bound by these terms and conditions. (CONSENT FORM)
4.5 The applicant may request for rectification of the information for the accuracy of records. (REQUEST FOR DATA ACCESS FORM)
4.6 An applicant has the right to request the erasure of information as provided by law. ACB respects this right any applicant who wishes that the same be erased shall fill in the erasure form. (DATA ERASURE FORM)
5. ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
5.1 The competition is open to all university students currently enrolled in universities in Africa.
5.2 Proof of age shall be required during application.
5.3 All applicants under the age of 18, must obtain written parental or guardian consent to join the competition and claim the prize.
5.4 During the competition, a minor must be accompanied by their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) at each stage of the competition.
5.5 Representations/ entries on behalf of another person shall not be accepted.
5.6 Joint submissions are not permitted.
5.7 Applicants making a group performance shall only need to fill out one application form.
5.8 Africa’s Campus Battle reserves all rights to disqualify the applicant at any stage during the competition if their conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition.
5.8 By joining this competition, the applicant confirms and undertakes that they shall be ready, willing, and able to attend and perform at each stage of the competition.
6. AFRICA’S CAMPUS BATTLE SEASON 6 ROADMAP
6.1. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
6.1.1 Africa’s Campus Battle welcomes talents for its Season 6 under various categories, including singing, dancing, magic, spoken word, and musical performances.
6.1.2 To participate in the competition, interested individuals need to visit Africa’s Campus Battle website and follow the registration instructions provided.
6.1.3 Participants must submit their entries via the official submission form provided by Africa’s Campus Battle.
6.1.4 Contestants must follow each and every instruction as specified in the “HOW TO FILM YOUR PERFORMANCE” section of the brief.
6.1.5 Submissions must be original and must not infringe upon any copyrights or intellectual property rights of any third party. Participants hereby indemnify ACB against any claims or damages on infringement of copyrights or intellectual property rights.
6.1.5 All content must be suitable for a general audience. Any content deemed inappropriate or offensive by the Organizer will be disqualified.
6.1.7 Any copyrighted material must be properly credited.
6.1.8 All applicants who have successfully completed an application before the Closing Date and meet the eligibility criteria shall be subjected to the audition.
6.2. “JUDGES CALL”
6.2.1 The Judges Call shall entail having an intense session of vetting and refining the different performances presented during the 1st round of auditions.
6.2.2 The judges shall ensure that only the best forty (40) performers are shortlisted to proceed to the next level (hereinafter referred to as “The ACB Heat”).
6.2.3 The Auditions shall be judged by a jury who will decide on performance that shall move to the next level.
6.2.4 The decision of the panel of industry experts shall be considered to be fair/impartial/reasonable and shall be final.
6.3. THE ACB HEAT
6.3.1 Each week, the selected participants selected for Africa’s Campus Battle Season 6 shall receive themed tasks designed to showcase their talents. These performances will be broadcast on the Africa’s Campus Battle YouTube page, providing a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities before their peers, and fostering a competitive environment.
6.3.2 The performances will be judged by a panel of experts to determine those who will proceed to the next level up to the finals.
6.3.3 Contestants not selected by the panel of judges will have the opportunity to engage in a public voting process to appeal for their continuation in the competition. The contestant who receives the highest number of votes from the public will be reinstated into the competition, allowing them to proceed further in the contest.
6.3.4 The ACB finalists will then proceed to the grand finale, where they will compete against champions from other countries.
6.3.5 Finalists of Africa’s Campus Battle Season 6 will receive logistical support, including travel arrangements to Kenya, and accommodation during their stay in the country, facilitating their participation in the grand finale event.
6.4. THE ACB BATTLE
6.4.1 The ACB Battle is the final stage of Africa’s Campus Battle and will be marked by a prestigious gala event where the Campus Champions from each university will have the extraordinary opportunity to showcase their talents.
6.4.2 This captivating event will take place in front of a live audience and will be broadcast across the continent, maximizing the reach.
6.4.3 The winner of Africa’s Campus Battle Season 6 will receive a range of exciting rewards and opportunities. This includes a generous cash prize, scholarship, and gift hampers from our esteemed sponsors.
7. THE PRIZE
7.1 The Ultimate winner of Africa’s Campus Battle Season 6 shall be eligible for a cash award of two thousand five hundred US Dollars (USD 2000).
7.2 The amount shall be payable as follows;
- 500 US Dollars shall be directly paid to the student’s fee account as a scholarship (Details of the University account shall provide in writing by the student)
- 1500 US Dollars shall be deposited into the student’s personal account Number(Details of the account to be provided in writing by the Student)
7.2.1 Africa’s Campus Battle does not accept any responsibility, nor shall the successful applicant be entitled to any form of compensation (financial or otherwise) if they are not able to take up the prize.
7.2.2 The prize shall not be claimed by a third party on the winner’s behalf and is not transferable nor negotiable.
8. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
8.1 The winner of the competition will be announced at the Finals and shall be posted on Africa’s Campus Battle, its agents or distributors’ Website and social media pages.
8.2 The name of the winner of the competition shall be viewable on the Website from the Announcement Date for a period of one year.
8.3 Accordingly, the winner agrees that Africa’s Campus Battle Shall not pay them any fees or royalties in connection to their participation during Season 6.
8.4 ACB shall not be responsible for making any payments to the winners when the performance/pictures are posted on Social media or are rebroadcast or exploited in any other form of media.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
9.1 In so far as is permitted by law, Africa’s Campus Battle, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of entering the competition and/or taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the AFRICA’S CAMPUS BATTLE, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.
10. PERFORMANCE CONSENT
10.1 By entering the competition, you are granting Africa’s Campus Battle, its agents or distributors consent;
a) To photograph, portray, make recordings of, and film the Performer, during their performance
b) To record your voice and other sound effects in connection with the portrayal and/or performance of the Role for use in and in connection with Season 6.
c) To use your recorded performances throughout the competition.
d) To use recordings featuring your image and/or voice in connection with the Programme and/or ancillary rights in the Programme
e) To exploit the same in all media throughout the world in perpetuity and shall not be liable to pay any fees or royalties in connection to the performance/pictures posted on Social media or are rebroadcast or exploited in any other form of media.
11. PUBLICITY
11.1 By joining the competition, the applicant agrees that Africa’s Campus Battle will use their name, image, and town or county of residence for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes of the competition and/or the Programme.
11.2 The applicant further agrees to participate in any reasonable publicity required by Africa’s Campus Battle in connection with the competition and/or the Programme.
12. DATA PROTECTION
12.1 In respect of personal information supplied by a discloser under this Agreement, the Recipient shall:
a) Keep personal information physically and logically separate and distinct from any other data compiled, maintained or used by Recipient;
b) Retain the personal information only for as long as is reasonably required to achieve the Permitted Purposes.
c) Take all appropriate technical and organisational measures against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal information.
d) Implement all such further security measures in relation to the processing/controlling of personal information in order to comply with the laws and regulations in the data protection Act.
12.2 By joining the competition, the applicant agrees that any personal information provided by them for joining the competition shall be held and used only by the Promoter or its agents and suppliers to administer the competition.
12.3 The applicant shall not disclose, publish, or discuss with any third party any information relating to the competition and/or the Programme.
13. GENERAL
13.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, Africa’s Campus Battle, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude the applicant from participating in the competition.
13.2 Africa’s Campus Battle reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
13.3 These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of Kenya, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
